It has had a very well loved and long life and is starting to show it's age. Because of the frailty of the spine and pages my friend no longer wanted it to remain unprotected on her book shelf.
I was going to make a simple box and lid from card stock until I started to think about it a bit more closely...a little rummage through a few YT tutorials and another, non-video tutorial, which was in this case easier to follow, (I had some working out to do between steps), set me on the journey to discover how to make a clam-shell box, which, as it is made to the specific measurements of the book and opens to allow careful removal of the book when required, should give it better protection.
After measuring the little book and doing the simple maths required, I cut out the two inner forms from a light chipboard.
I had to colour the paper for the lining as I did not have anything large enough...a quick trip to Artery in Hobart at the weekend failed to provide me with any suitably coloured fine paper, as blue had been indicated as a favourite. I simply measured out the two cover strips on a roll of white paper that I often use for journal covers, then used various shades of home made blue spray inks and a Kaisercraft dotty stencil, with the result you see below.
Bye now,
Di
