The order was a little non-specific re colours etc that were preferred on the card, I was just asked for a neutral palette as the parents to be will not know the sex of their baby until the birth, and a "Welcome Baby" sentiment to be included.
The first card I made used a pastel lemony toned card for the bits and pieces with a kraft coloured bear and a bit of scrolled embossing on the side and front panels. While it looks quite sweet it does look a little anaemic, especially when photographed in the sun, so I made a second (eventually! Grrrrrr!), using a brighter yellow accent colour, a two-toned bear and the text placed differently. I like it better, though I am sure the first will get used one day. At least our friend will be able to chose which she prefers...
I have also almost finished another altered book style that leaves about half of the original pages intact and has glued in papers and embellies to cover most of the remaining text. I have already started using it as a daily journal. It has worked just fine and is great to use but aesthetically it does not thrill me....BUT as I do have used a heap of embellishments and paper and card scraps from my stash it is a great way to diminish those...I would remove more pages next time as it seems full with just the added paper and small embellishments, but as I like to add photographs, tickets, receipts etc. as mementoes of each entry, this style does not give me enough leeway to do so. Next time...
Once I can quite legitimately move to purchasing specific colours and designs for each project I commence, (once my stash has been well and truly busted), I will be in better control of the outcome. I always purchase specific papers, colours and designs if I am making a project for someone else...which is why I am left with so many scraps to use up for myself...Do others have this issue? Maybe I just need to empty the scraps into the compost bin and not feel guilty. My grandmother and mother taught me to be very careful about wasting anything in my life, and although both are no longer here to give me the look, their teachings remain central in my mind...sigh! Mind you...most are good.
catch you next time you are passing...;)
