I was very glad I did. I managed to get a good few pics of this 1846 building and it's walled cemetery before the light failed. I was so pleased with these images, once I arrived home and downloaded them from my phone that I spent the rest of the evening and all day yesterday fiddling about with size, brightness contrast and other PS6 enhancements and late, (very late), submitted them as the image section of my final assignment in the Photography and Social Media unit...all done and I am pleased with the result. I was even a couple of days ahead of the submission deadline!
It was funny, I had so many files of images that I have been working on over the past eleven weeks but couldn't decide which I was going to submit for the assessment. Then, as I was working on the images from Buckland I realised that these were just perfect for the task.
I collected a lovely lot of images of the old graves and head stones too, from the grand landed family sarcophagus at the end of the church to the tiny little hand engraved lichen covered memorial to a lost son tucked away by the stone wall.
I enjoyed working on these too, but decided the building itself was the group to submit. The church is open during the day for visitors to enjoy the building and has lovely (and quite contentious as to origin) stain glass windows. I did not manage to photograph these well, I did not take enough time as I believed the building to be too dark, so another trip is on the cards, I would like to make a proper record of the windows.
I am hoping I can persuade Sarah, with her wealth of knowledge and swanky cameras to undertake this task for me...fingies crossed. I will supply the picnic, sarah.
