Some summer pruning out in the garden and a lovely gift of a couple of Bay (Laurus nobilis) branches from my nephew Andrew has resulted in dried herbs ready for storage...
Bye for now,
Di
,
I really cannot do too much in the garden now and it is not the boys natural environment by a long chalk...we are getting by in this uneasy alliance by having more perennial plants, self seeding annuals and food items like Scarlet Runner beans, rhubarb and herbs that can pretty well take care of themselves with minimal assistance. They divide the tasks, Chris is (speed) lawn mower while Tim needs to be the edge keeper and tidier-upper...my role is pretty much reduced to being the pointer-outer of necessary tasks with a little pruning and weeding when I can manage it, usually in short bursts. It is working pretty well, so far, but even I am starting to see the advantages of apartment life... Some summer pruning out in the garden and a lovely gift of a couple of Bay (Laurus nobilis) branches from my nephew Andrew has resulted in dried herbs ready for storage... Summer pruned Lemon Verbena ( Aloysia citrodora), seems more strongly scented...the cat mint (Nepeta x faassenii 'Walkers Low') is for filling cat toys...Our cat Pig did not prefer this variety and would have nothing to do with it...he preferred the much taller Nepeta cataria, biting and chewing the leaves and burying his head into the plant which to me has a much more sagey scent... Well, that's the herbal update for today...just finishing my second DT project for May, almost ready for submission...just have to complete the video editing so I had better get on with it!
Bye for now, Di
