As I have moved house several times in the past few years, I have had to learn to become quite ruthless in eradicating things like partially used pieces of cardstock, embellishments etc. of which I once upon a time kept every little piece. (I blame my very frugal mum for this sensible trait :), Now I simply recategorise and repurpose where possible, and discard when not. After all an overflowing rubbish bin is much easier to manage than crates of mixed cardstock and myriad other items that I don't know where to store, :)
This little card I put together this morning is a case in point...I found the little scrap of pretty greeny-blue cloud paper some time ago, lurking in the bottom of my paper pad bin, from where it originated I have no idea now. It didn't relate to any of the paper series that I currently had in stock. I hesitated to toss it because it was so pretty, and so it was relegated to the "pound" bin where I give some items a brief reprieve. Time was rapidly running out however. This morning I decided to do my monthly cull and there it was, with the little SVG Cuts sparrow embellishment neatly positioned across it, looking quite eager I thought. So they were both saved at the very last moment. Even the little brown cardstock banner was in there, surplus from some other project. I knew I had a piece of PTI Ocean Tides cardstock which would be just the right background colour for these two rescue pieces, so I put this card together very quickly and almost entirely from scraps. I would have liked it to be a little more surreal, but softly, softly...
I did try a new little technique, mixing up the embossing powder colours on the sentiment, it worked a treat and I was pleased with the effect.
