A - A YT friend had casually mentioned during a video that she did not have any seam binding...
B - jenofeve Designs had offered a flip book as her latest Friday Freebie and her video was (as usual) pretty enticing...
C - I have never made one before...
Well, that was more than enough to get me interested...all those comets colliding just at that moment, so I set out on a rather bumpy little journey of discovery...result? Well, I'm not impressed with my results AT ALL...next time I want to send off anything thicker than a photograph or sheet of paper I will simply buy a post box, fill and send that...I became very frustrated at the limits of the flip book, even though it had some space created by the spines expecting more from it than it was able to deliver!...I was pleased though, with Jen's lovely freebie...many of the included componants will be useful across other projects...I have printed it off the download file onto a good weight plain cardstock trimmed everything out and popped them into a display folder, all ready for action.
I tend to use these downloads as a template more than as a printable, as I generally want to utilise scraps of paper from my burgeoning stash rather than using a whole new sheet of paper through the printer. However, the file is always in the computer should I decide to use it as a printable.
While I am cutting out all the componants of a downloaded project like Jens, I also print a copy onto plain copy paper and cut these out with an 3.1750 mm border (1/8 in), cut from each side of any relevant piece so I can mat the item without further measuring in future (another of Jen's tricks). These are simply adhered with removable adhesive onto the main piece, ready for action if needed, but safely out of the way if not.
I learned a lot, making this little project and I guess that the main thing...I eventually got it to a point where I am sort of happy to send it off...indeed, it is already en route...Tim and Chris posted it a few minutes ago.
In order to save the day a little, after some thought, I relocated the little ladybird crossstitch (a ladybird should be used to home relocation after all, don't you think?), popped Elaine's offering into the white IKEA frame and so will send it off to her on Monday, she might be able to put it somewhere in her craft room, even if it's not right! I don't know anyone else with those initials, after all.
I think I might have to check the IKEA catalogue for more of those frames...I am into white right now and they do look lovely grouped on a wall...and I do have a whole pile of mixed medium pieces hovering about just out of sight of my minds eye...next time we put in an IKEA order I will get some sent over...
We had a small disaster in the garden during the night also...one of Tim's fence garden boxes disengaged itself from it's fastening and flattened the lovely hollyhock below it in the garden bed as it fell...
They are hard to keep watered though, if rain is elusive, and the birds are having such a lovely time sorting through the spilled soil and the emptied box, looking for worms and bugs, so not all bad! (Don't tell Tim I said that...his shoulder is suffering a little from all the extra unplanned manual labour...)
That's it for today, (I hope),
bye now,
Di xx
