Earlier I had watched a You Tube Christmas card video by Einat Kessler , where she demonstrates how to make a cunning little concertina device for a card in order to create lots of dimension. Click on the linky to check out her video...
I was quite intrigued and decided to have a play with her idea. Not surprisingly, I combined both missions.
Here is the result...
I used one side of the discarded base to create a neat back layer for the card front, covering up the back of the distress inked white paper I had used to create the sky background. This worked very well and the back of the card front is now totally sealed and when you open up the card to the sentiment section, it is all seamless lime green and very tidy.
I used the discarded card front frame to make a second frame for the front of the card, simply to make the card more sturdy...the recipient is a nine year old boy with two younger brothers, after all!
I also have had another idea for a smaller square card that I am keen to try...this time though I will make the internal frame first and build it from there.
After I had finished the card I was scootling through some blog posts I had been promising myself a visit, when I came across the Seize the Birthday Challenge, again, not one I had ever seen before, so I thought I might as well enter this card, it being a rather over the top birthday card, after all.
It does not have the required "topping" for this challenge, (acetate or vellum), but on reading through a few of the DT blogs it seems as if they don't really mind if you don't have the required "topping", as long as the card is for a birthday, so I entered it anyway...
Bye for now,
Di
