I started stamping when I was living briefly in Sydney and a work colleague invited me to one of her SU sessions...after I returned home I was still very busy with work and so it was easy to simply continue my association with her SU distributor...I really didn't have time to search out online sites to see what other delights were out there...
When I saw this site I thought what a good idea, one of the rules is that the stamp must be at least a year old...well, all of mine are well over that milestone! I thought I would start by using one I really don't think I have ever used...called Three Little Words.
This is another challenge that uses SU colours as their challenge colour samples, and I really have very few SU ink pads, so I substituted. These are similar colours to those used on another challenge a couple of weeks ago, not my usual colours, but I was ready this time ;)
I versamarked the flower image (nicely retro) onto some watercolour paper and white heat embossed it. I then water coloured around the image using Wild Honey DI ( Hello Honey), and Crushed Olive (DI (Old Olive), using several coats of colour, drying between layers. I used Seedless Preserves DI ( Blackberry Bliss) to colour the flower heads, giving the image a final splatter of both the purple and the green once it was dry. A quick rub over with a dry tissue removed any colour from on top of the embossed sections. It is such a warm day here today that the water colouring dried very quickly...we are in for a hot summer it seems.
I adhered the panel onto a kraft mat that I had edged with Memento Toffee Crunch (I thought that sounded nicely Brown Sugary), by swiping the ink pad around the edge of the mat. Initially it looked deliciously grungy, but by the time I took the photo it had smoothed out into a more uniform colour.
I adhered the matted image onto a Bazzill Marshmallow card base and made a small sentiment strip from a strip of the kraft paper, white embossing the sentiment, (from the same stamp set), onto the strip before swiping it with the Toffee Crunch ink also. I adhered the sentiment on with some more Scotch tape and added three blackberry-ish half pearls around the sentiment for additional colour.
A simple little card but I am quite pleased with how it looks. I will pop it into the post tomorrow to a friend I haven't seen for some time. Thanks for the challenge!
