Where we live now, we are surrounded by birds...indeed, in most of Tasmania if one stands still for a moment and listens, one is always aware of birds flying, calling and generally going about their busy little lives.
I continue to take photos of birds, but without a telescopic lens for my camera I can only rely on my phone for that quick image, which 99 times out of 100 results in a blurred or too distant failure, but I persist, thanking digital technology every time! I have even joined a FB page for Tasmanian Bird Photography, despite my innate aversion to Facebook, simply in order to view the wonderful posted images of the talented members of that site.
For the inchie, as well as the birds themselves, I have the sounds they make, their feathers, nests, eggs et al, so I am spoilt for choice for a topic, once again. After reviewing some images and thinking a little thunk, I decided to use this tiny feather, found many years ago and since used in my dolls house as a quill pen, to create an inchie for today. After all, no-one lives in the dolls house anymore, so it won't be missed.
For the matting layer I used a scrap pf grey cloudy card, which I edged with silver...some days we all need a little silver lining, I think.
Getting back to aviation, as a younger person I dearly wanted to learn to fly a plane, but that inclination and an available funding source never coincided in time and space for me...but I still love to get on a plane...it remains a rather miraculous thing to do, flying, whatever the wings are made of.
Swimming was cancelled for this week so I don't have that excursion to look forward to, but if it is going to be so cold, I guess I can live with staying home in the warm.
Tim is celebrating his birthday tomorrow. I am still waiting to hear from him what his chosen cake is to be...mind you, a cheesecake is always on his gustatory agenda, so I may have to simply show some decision-making leadership here and just get on with it...Chris found a lovely bag of frozen blood plums whilst rummaging in the freezer this morning also, so I am also considering a plum streuselkuchen...dessert solved for the rest of the week if I make both! I don't think he will mind too dreadfully. Chris has spoilt him with a special gift from the Bruny Island Cheese Company, a couple of hefty wedges of cheese and two bottles of their specialty beer..."Second Breakfast" and "The Long Paddock"...I do hope he realises he is meant to share, we ordered the large bottles as a strong hint! I can write about it here as his parcel has already been delivered and because of the content, opened and popped safely in the fridge waiting for the big day. Sarah and Karina will visit for the occasion too, I am sure, to help him celebrate.
Yesterday I had a lovely long chat to a former work colleague, (and friend), from the Sydney days, who is about to embark on an exciting new venture in her life. After a lot of chat and mutual catching up of life events during the past few years, she has asked me to join her in just a limited way, by sending her some baby themed gift cards to compliment her products, which is a lovely motivation for me, as I have little need these days to make anything baby-focused. I am really looking forward to hearing more of her plans as she progresses them.
I have just completed editing another very short video for my YT channel...I am trying to get back into the habit of making these more regularly but have been lacking motivation...one of those things I enjoy once I knuckle down and get on with it...procrastination still lurks about me from time to time.
Well, that's about it for now...keep warm and dry,
Di
