I had seen some lovely cards on Pinterest made with watercolour crayons, spritzed and stamped, then finely outlined...a lovely effect.
I don't have any watercolour crayons and decided to have a bit of a rummage in the darker corners of the craft room to see what I could find...I dug out my only three Gelatos, 1 blue, 1 green and gold...crumbly and dry. I was wondering what I could mix them with, thinking (reluctantly) of Christmas and metallic mediums and I remembered that I have several Distress Stains of a metallic hue...they are nice and watery and I thought they might just pair up nicely.
I like Christmas cards that reflect our modern environment rather than those that reflect a more nostalgic, European experience, while still acknowledging family tradition and custom, just a tad. For that reason I chose Christmas Ornaments stamp set, from SU.
Re the Christmas customs and practice, when I was a child the tree was draped with cotton wool "snow", mum would buy us a can of Santa Snow to decorate our windows once that became available, glass red robins bobbed on the tree and imitation holly flourished...you get the gist I am sure...maybe you even remember similar out of context displays during the silly season?
Regardless, I must stop the humbugging and get back to the cards...they were fun to make, being quite quick to finish off, and they look OK to use when the time comes...so no complaints from me!
I started stamping them on water colour paper, but plain heavy card stock was probably nicer, due to the white background.
The little pine bough was die cut from a heavy water colour paper and dipped and dried several times in Iced Spruce DI and water, to give a soft effect...
Bye now,
Di
