I have not really been able to do much crafting whilst confined to bed and unable to sit up, but over the past week or so I have had some fun completing cards for special birthdays and other events that are looming up. My significant other did shorten the legs of a redundant Ikea coffee table and he and son#3 carried items back and forth from my crafting room to the bedroom each day in an effort to relieve my intense boredom, (I had completely depleted my stash of sock wool), but it was really hard work and stamping was frustratingly difficult to achieve on the yielding surface of the bed .
I did manage to complete a fiftieth wedding anniversary album for my sister and brother-in-law but only because I had started it ages ago and had the album "built". It just needing finishing touches, photographs, tags etc. It was not completed to my usual standard of approval but I could not do much about it, and my sister was very pleased with it, which is the main thing. I even found a copy of their invitation to include in a pocket. Sadly I was not able to attend their wonderful lunch party at a local winery. My brother and I were the only attendants and it would have been wonderful to have been all together on the anniversary just before Christmas. I now have my sights set on being able to attend their 60th anniversary in 10 years time. It promises to be a grand occasion ;).
I made a card for son#1's partner, the delightful Helen...using a metallic paint resist technique. I fussy cut the butterflies and was very pleased with the result. I wanted something a bit complex and sophisticated to suit her personality and I think I achieved the right effect, although this photograph does not really do it justice. The background was almost velvety with the silver paint resist gleaming though and the butterflies were more glowing than they appear...I will blame the photographer as he isn't here right now and will never read this bit anyway...fingies crossed :)
Bye now,
Di
