Thanks Mel!
In the end I stopped tidying away the items I still had out for yesterday's journal embellishments, shut the brain down and just made a card..so easy, really!
Here is what I came up with...
This card is for a friend in Sydney who got in contact with me a couple of weeks ago...we unfortunately don't get to connect very often, her there and me here, so snail mail (for me) is a good option...(another person I can send a card to), she is much busier than I am these days, so email remains her communication tool of choice. Plus the alcohol background is appropriate, as we both quite enjoy and have shared a few bottles of wine over the years...in fact we first met at university, me delivering a (non-nursing) presentation on making fruit wines, she being my lecturer (I lost points for NOT stopping the presentation on time...I couldn't get my class mates to stop sampling the end product! But I learned, I am far more assertive now!).
Oh dear! As I read over those last couple of sentences I had a sudden insight into my actions...
I try (without being at all militant about it), to reduce waste, the unnecessary use of paper in any area I can in my life, my overall carbon footprint...that sort of thing, and here I am wantonly distributing my own threat to the environment to anyone I can think of...and even being pleased that I have added another address to my list...
clearly there is something sadly wrong with my ethical baseline, I can see it now. I obviously need to think deeply about my own theory and just how I practice my beliefs when it comes to environmental issues...oh well..maybe later...tomorrow sounds good.
Sarah and Karina called by this afternoon, they are off to the movies tonight to see The Lady in The Van...can't wait to see that one myself...Alan Bennett has always been a favourite author and his audiobook (read by Alan bennett and the BBC radio play of the same name also with Alan and Maggie Smith) are in my collection...don't normally get too excited about a move but I can't wait to hear what they thought of it...
bye for now,
Di
