We had guests for lunch yesterday and a lovely long lazy afternoon eating, chatting and enjoying the company. Later another friend dropped in as she was passing to lend me a couple of audio book collections I haven't heard, as well as a Sherlock Holmes DVD collection which we started to watch last evening and the set will give us viewing pleasure for the rest of the week.
After they had all left my brother arrived bearing fresh Blue-Eye fillets which I cooked for our supper along with scalloped potatoes and a small tomatoey salad, finishing with rhubarb cake left over from lunch, well some of us managed it, not all ;) He left after a pleasant evening catching up on family gossip and his bits of news...then today we had a couple more visitors for lunch. They live in NSW and are visiting family for a couple of weeks and introducing a couple of young grandchildren to their Tasmanian family members.
We had a light lunch (it is overly humid and hot here again today) of wombok and coconut chicken salad and a rhubarb fool, all shared with Sarah and Karina and the two dogs who took advantage of the public holiday today to pop in and say hello. Lovely lots of conversation and the smalls all got in and cleared the dishes, did the dishwasher etc. and made coffee, which allowed Vicki and I time to have a lovely catch-up while Tim and John checked out the Dremel and the garden. We finished off with more coffee and Sarah's lovely sticky date loaf...she is a wonderful cook and nearly always brings a delicious contribution to the feast.
A busy, busy couple of days, but so lovely to see everyone....PLUS the fridge is bursting with left-overs so no more cooking needed today (or probably tomorrow either), so I am able to get on with the inchie task without interruption.
This week at EIM the theme is Heron. I have chosen to stitch this handsome locally common, White - Faced Heron, (Egretta novaehollandiae)... Here he is in a resting position...if he was standing upright with his neck extended, I would have needed a twinchie at least to depict him!
