The challenge where my card will be displayed is Number 29, and is very appropriately, a Christmas Theme challenge.
For this card I used the Christmas tree image from a rather elderly Stampin' Up set called Snow Swirled, and a sentiment from a PTI set called Bells and Boughs.
I then used a medium weight water colour paper to cut a 5" square. I sprayed the water colour paper with two green sprays I had made, then added a couple of layers of Peeled Paint re-inker, particularly to the edges of the layer, to create texture and colour variation. I then punched out the border and corners with my holly leaf Martha Stewart punches and cut a slightly smaller circle in the centre of that panel...I then went over the panel for a third time, ensuring all the white edges created by the punches and the die were covered with the peeled paint ink.
The final layer is a 51/8" square piece of Ranger Speciality Stamping paper. I stamped the tree and sentiment with Archival Jet Black ink, and clear heat embossed.
I then coloured the panel with Squeezed Lemonade and Fossilised Amber DI's, lighter in the centre and darker towards the outside, although the graduation in colour is not very clear in these photographs. The RSS paper certainly was a joy to colour with the inks and blending tool, very smooth and effortless.
After all layers had dried, I adhered the card together with multi matt medium, by using layers of fun foam under both the green layer and the red, to give the card a little dimension, without adding weight or too much height, as it is to be posted.
Finally I added some red and green sprinkles to the tree, to give it some shine and interest, then I glossy accented the edges of the holly border.
Bye now,
Di
