The matting layer is a scrap of a green leafy vine design paper that looked appropriate enough to sit behind the strawberry inchie...
Strawberries grow well here, but May sees the end of even the latest local varieties. Supermarkets do carry punnets most of the year, from the warmer states, like Queensland, but we rarely buy them, as while they can look wonderful, large and glowing, the flavour and texture is never as good as ones that have been left to sweeten up on the plant.
Plus to me they are one of those seasonal fruits that are best enjoyed when at their peak, fresh picked and warm from the sun...now is the time, hereabouts, for all the wonderful new season apple and pear varieties, and quinces.
Having said that, I have a wonderfully easy strawberry sorbet recipe that is rarely out of our freezer during the Summer months...just click on the linky bizo to view, you wont be disappointed if you try it...
Today started off very beautifully with a fabulously colourful sunrise, but has now segued into a sombre, overcast midday...I am hoping for a little rain as the garden badly needs it.
At the Gallery, my paper dolly cards have been very popular...bother them! Fussy cutting all those tiny pieces out is a real challenge, but still, patience is a virtue, I have been told. This afternoon I am going to experiment with the Brother ScanNCut to see if it can assist me with the cutting tasks...I don't hold out much hope...life isn't meant to be easy, after all.
I have finally set myself up to make some acrylic pours in my crafting space...these take a fair bit of room due to the lengthy drying time, but the boys purchased me a fold-up table that allows me to keep my main crafting space free. Everyone who visits likes to have a play with this fun technique, so we are now all systems go.
I won't be making many however, and no large pours at present. I am limited by my shelf space at the gallery and so have been concentrating on smaller canvases that will be a good size to display.
Bye now,
Di
