Back to wolves...we don't have them hereabouts, but they are very powerful icons amongst the animal world...my first real introduction to the habits, mythical behaviours, and the fear engendered by the animal was in reading Bram Stoker's Dracula...that was a couple of years after Red Riding Hood, of course, but both are illustrative of how wolves have been incorporated in many guises into the cultures of the places they share with humans. They are certainly a much documented and researched species and great survivors.
Oh, by the way, Wolf is the animal over at EIM this week, in case you are wondering what I am wittering on about...I have taken the easy route this week in using an image without any embellishment....with only two to go I shouldn't be so lazy! But, Sarah asked me to make some Christmas cards for her to give to her work colleagues, including some box cards, and that little project is taking my focus at the moment...I thought, as I am not sending any cards myself this year, I was home free...but when one's daughter asks...one can't refuse.
This little fuchsia is at the end of the side garden right at the pavement and is totally neglected and ignored most of the time...it is not as admired and beautifully frilly as it's cousins closer to the house but it is a great survivor and is much more heat and drought tolerant than the other spoilt little softies...I love how the flower stems are quite rigid and hold the flowers out from the stems, rather than hanging them down amongst the leaves and out of sight...
I was looking forward to Ann visiting tomorrow to do some more acrylic pours as she hasn't tried this before and I am very keen to do some more.
Chris has ordered in a lovely big box of canvasses for his shop...well, for me mainly...but Ann wisely checked ahead for the temperatures for the week and as it is predicted to be over thirty degrees tomorrow we have decided to wait until Thursday, hoping it will be cooler then.
I have a bit of tidying away to do in the craft room before we do the pours. My craft room is carpeted and needs protecting, and all the equipment I normally leave out on the big table needs to be stashed out of the way for all the fun. But I am sure Chris will help me get it set up, he likes the pouring as much as I do, the first time he has ever taken a real interest in any of my crafty efforts...
Bye now,
Di
