Also Sarah had given me a rather large order for some cards for an acquaintance of hers, four box cards and a couple of "special" 18th birthday cards for girls...these I have still to make as I don't really have any guidelines at all. There are so many things to consider...I immediately come up with a myriad of questions regarding the recipients...are these girls sophisticates or still teenagers? Are they girly girls or goths? What colours do they like? Are they to be posted or hand delivered as this aspect significantly affects the design and fragility of the card...all these questions and no answers! My daughter did suggest the person contact me directly so I could get some responses, but it seems she is perfectly happy for me to just produce something as a surprise...which is nice for me as it challenges my creativity.
I am veering towards making these as clean, stylish and simple cards and will just have to hope they are suitable for her, as I would like her to be happy with the outcome. I don't have many direct customers and so this one is very precious! The box cards are all finished and sitting waiting to be packed up...I enjoy making these although they are very time consuming and I get my hands very badly inked when making the pansies for the flower one, but they do look nice, sitting on my shelf...
I don't know a great deal about buffalo, apart from the fact that they were introduced by settlers in the early 19th century as a source of food in Northern parts of Australia and are now considered feral pests in some areas due to the considerable damage they do to wetlands . It seems they adapted well!
Also the wonderful Shaw River Buffalo cheese is a wonderful treat if you can lay hands on some of their fresh Mozzarella or yoghurt...fabulous! I used to find it at Simon Johnson's when I was living in Pyrmont for a couple of years but I have never seen it here in Tasmania.
I found an image of a water buffalo in Thailand with enormous horns but went the literary route for my inchie, using one of Shaun Tans' wonderful illustrations from his fabulous book "Tales From Outer Suburbia". If you have smalls, or even not so smalls, then his books and art work are a absolute treasure...check them out!
Bye now,
Di
