We live quite near a water bird sanctuary with a creek and know that frogs abound in that area, and we hear them as we drive around this fairly rural environment near water holes etc.
Until about a month ago there was no sight or sound until this little chap started chirping away one evening, right under my craft room window...it is living in a big clump of lemongrass I have growing in a corner of the front garden. A couple of nights ago I heard another frog respond to his calls from the other end of our yard...so two frogs at least! I am so pleased, I really like having frogs about as they are such a wonderful environmental barometer.
I haven't seen it yet, so no identification, (I cannot tell from the sound it makes...), and because it is in the lemongrass I am a bit wary of pulling any of the stalks as I don't want the frog chased off or hurt...
It has been a bit hard even to pick up this little audio track as as soon as I pop my phone over the gate to record the chirps, it goes silent...today is cooler and very overcast so I suppose it was not warned by my shadow and I was able to capture this small rather breezy track...I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
(Plus the learning curve regarding how to send it from my phone to OneDrive, convert the .m4a file in Audition to a .wav file, found that I couldn't load that file to Weebly and so into Audacity and convert to .mp3...which did load...phew! A long way round but I made it! I don't use the audio programmes very much, so everything is a steep climb! Next time will be quicker...;)
Apart from a very long ago Woody Woodpecker memory which I started to pursue...then I remembered what an irritating theme song that was and I did not want myself or anyone else driven mad by having it revolving through ones mind on an endless spool, so I started looking through my stamp box for Woodpecker stamps...I did find a few but alas they were all too large, or too rectangular for the inchie purpose. Then I found a partial image of a lovely sketchy watercolour Green Woodpecker image that I had been saving as an example of watercolour technique showing movement...I decided to sacrifice the little image, it was torn anyway, so I cut it out showing the head and beak only...so here is my easy inchie for this week...I hope my mentioning that other one has not given you tinnitus...
