Monday September 16th commemorates the date in 1620 when the good ship "Mayflower" left Plymouth in England en route to the Americas with 102 Puritans on board, variously looking to make their fortune in the New World or searching for religious freedom.
Now, I have a very funny story about "The Mayflower", from my time, about 17 years ago when I started a new position as manager of a group of aged care facilities in Western Sydney, but as I doubt if I could do it justice really, as one really needed to know the protagonists and the environment in which it occurred...but it still warms my heart whenever I think of it!
I found an image of the ship, sailing into either the sunrise or sunset, depending, I think, on whether you may have been a Puritan or an Indigenous American, that I decided to use for todays inchie.
I used a scrap of sea green card for the mount.
On Sunday we all drove to Lindisfarne to Spencers, in order to celebrate Karinas birthday, with Brad...another lovely lunch and chatfest...a busy, for us, weekend! Afterwards, Sarah, Karina and I drove to their home to pick up Miss Hollie, who hadn't been invited to the earlier celebration, then home to cheese cake and a cuppa, oh, and more chat. A lovely afternoon...
The Gallery in Sorell upgrade is now finished...we opened last Friday with the interior looking fresh and clean, such a vast improvement...Peter, our Treasurer, did a great job organising, coordinating the project and completing much of the work, Tim went in each day to work and Chris helped out where he was needed, as did other members.
Bye now,
Di
