The country is a sovereign state in southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north; Serbia and Kosovo to the east; Albania to the south and Croatia to the west. The Adriatic Sea forms it's easternmost border.
It is a very scenic, with a geography ranging from mountains to coastal plains. According to Wiki, "The diversity of the geological base, landscape, climate, and soil, and the position of Montenegro on the Balkan Peninsula and Adriatic Sea, created the conditions for high biological diversity, putting Montenegro among the "hot-spots" of European and world biodiversity. The number of species per area unit index in Montenegro is 0.837, which is the highest index recorded in any European country."
Montenegro's location has made it's population very diverse, with influences from many cultures across the centuries evidenced in art, architecture, religion, politics and other social impacts. I think this would be a very interesting country to visit.
While researching the flora of Montenegro, I was pleased to see that the Holm or Holly Oak, Quercus ilex, was listed. A lovely specimen grows on the banks of the Sorell Rivulet and I have several photographs taken during our "duck walks" at our last home. I don't imagine the tree is endemic to Montenegro, but it appears to be so for the Balkan Peninsular, and besides, the lovely green holly-like leaves are very appropriate for the time of year!
The framing, neatly and precisely, of last years 52 inchies, all mounted on 1.5 inch mount board squares, simply defeated my patience. Getting them accurately spaced was just too hard so I have passed that task on to those who should have the tools and skill to achieve it. However, I did have to tell the chap that there is no rush...he is uber busy with pre-Christmas orders, so it will probably be next year before I can share an image. But, at last the work is underway!
Bye for now,
