Sadly there have been both human and animal loss of life in what is unfolding to be another major climatic event...sad outcomes.
I was taken for a drive today and took this photo of the Carton River...taken from the moving car so don't get motion sick from looking at it...
I have been playing with different techniques, trying images printed on cardstock and coated with Liquitex Glaze, sewing them on the machine to calico and just generally treating them in various ways to increase my knowledge of how to apply and adapt different processes, checking the results etc...it's how I learn. I'm hoping Maggie will give me feedback about the longevity of the little felt, calico and paper sachet I made to send to her, as I simply glued the image on (this seems to be the technique used by most fabric/paper crafters that I have reviewed. My premise it that it will be ok...it is made to pop into a pocket in the journal and be forgotten about. It isn't made to be interactive in any way, so it should be fine. I have also been playing with other shapes as well. The problem is making them large enough to hold enough lavender and still keep them size and thickness appropriate for the journal. Because of this aspect, I think using essential oils, or perfume concentrates will always be the most effective way to make these, they can be very low profile and still pack a satisfactory olfactory punch..
Tim settled her by sitting with her on the sofa and letting her cuddle up to him, eventually.
She did enjoy sorting through the dog toy box, making about as much mess as a pair of hyperactive smalls could have done in the time...tossing toys, chewing on the rawhide treats, having a ball!
My worry now is how we are going to explain this to Bonnie and Hollie when they next visit...I am totally sure they will not be impressed.
However, when Pippa went home, she left her treat bag behind (maybe she intends coming again), so if all else fails an extra treat from the visitors stash may appease our own two, hopefully!
The sun is out today, a lovely mild and breezy day, a butter-wouldn't-melt-in-it's-mouth sort of day after the past week of wild weather. It looks as if it is all behind us finally, apart from the dreadful clearing up and counting the cost for all those affected, poor souls.
Bye for now,
Di xx
