I'm thinking that having a National Day to celebrate this would be an American idea, but maybe it is more widespread than I know... The few sites I visited were not forthcoming about their location but were clearly American.
"Dress Up Your Pet Day is an opportunity to wow the neighbours, and to unleash the inner diva of your favourite pooch or Persian… Why not go the extra mile, and get the little guy or gal something to match your finest glad rags – that way you can both dress to impress and really set some trends!"
I remembered that I do have, lost in the depths of the tub of old (pre-digital) photos, an old image of a long departed little black cat called Tabitha, who shared our lives for many years. She was snapped by the smalls wearing a string of gold Christmas tree beads. She loved attention all her life and sat contentedly wearing the beads until they were needed by the tree dressers, but it was years ago and the resolution of the image was very poor, life seemed too short to even think about the enormity of the task of unearthing the photograph, so I had to think again.
A quick flick through the digital files located a couple of usable images...one of an ageing Westie-bestie called George, taken during the Bede Memorial walk last year. Because of George's increasing arthritis, he is pictured wearing a rather fetching red jumper...then I found the one I decided to use...our little Malteaster Hollie hiding under her cane toy basket, with just her nose and fur visible through the handle...while she is not actually "wearing" the box, I can remember the fun we had that day. She is getting a tad arthritic herself now, and is not as lively as she once was. She still enjoys "travelling" in her toy box though, as it is put away in the cupboard at the end of her visit.
While several bush fires around the state have unfortunately been burning in the past few weeks, the residual smoke that is in the atmosphere has helped to create some stunning sunsets lately...
Bye now,
