When I made the first one I added vellum to cover the openings in each of the panels and I think it was a nicer effect than this one, which I have left plain...but as I didn't photograph the first one you will have to take my word on that!
However you do it though it does make a pretty card and can be muted down by cutting the frames and panels in softer colours or made more cheerful and vibrant by using higher contrasts, as here.
Sarah asked if I could make her a princess box card for a very young friend who will be celebrating her 4th birthday this weekend. Just when the cutter had been packed off! I worked out how to print off the SVG pattern from the SCAL4 software but couldn't alter the set colours of the pieces and so they printed off in a fairly hideous cat-sick pink...normally the colours of the pieces do not have any effect as you simply cut the pieces on whatever colour card stock you prefer, but this time I had to take what came out of the printer THEN I had to cut it out by hand...I think I said in a recent post that I really dislike any sort of fussy cutting...I should learn to keep my mouth shut! Put the horrid colours and my terrible cutting skills together and you get this wonky little number which would look better cut in blacks and orange for a spooky hallow e'en card. However, I said I would try and I did...I am just very dissatisfied with the result. I tried to glitter it up for the little one and I simply have to hope that Sarah and Karina provide themselves with a commercial card before the big event ;)
I finished off the recipe file last evening, something a little hard to believe as it has in production since the early 1990's when I used to write them up on my you-beaut Tandy laptop, saving them onto 3.5 inch floppy discs, oh how the world has changed! Didn't have to worry about hyperlinking back then.
Must get James' usb sent off to him...oh, I just thought, I don't know what I am going to do now to fill in my spare time...ho hum.
Just reading through the post before I publish and I realise how silly that last sentence is, two years ago I would have given my right arm to be able to make that statement! Never satisfied, me!
Bye for now,
Thanks for visiting,
