The ones I prefer are a German brand, about the size of a walnut, have a softly chewy texture with a distinctly gingery, spicy flavour and a crisp thin white icing glaze. They are absolutely perfect in size, flavour and texture to enjoy with a cup of tea.
I do not eat enough of these to warrant bothering to make these at home...they are one item that I prefer to buy occasionally.
Today is Tuesday, Christmas eve, and as we were out early to complete our last minute raspberry, cherries and smoked salmon purchases, I added a bag of my favorite brand to the shopping so I could complete the inchie for this week, and enjoy one with a cuppa just as soon as we arrived home.
Everyone loves these so the small purchase won't last long!
This is the penultimate inchie for 2019...
We are having visitors tomorrow and a low maintenance but delicious feast has been strategically planned and implemented over the past few weeks...there is just some last minute assemblage to perform tomorrow along with the Christmas pudding heating. This evening is dedicated to the trifle assembly, in memorium to brother Duddles whose contribution this always was, and then the show will be able to get underway just as soon as the family arrive tomorrow.
I am sure we will have a happy time of it, despite my Scroogish preferences. The weather promises to be pretty spot-on for us.
Happy Christmas to you all,
Di
