I think I might have mentioned months ago that I would be starting very early on Christmas tags and cards this year...well, I didn't! Until now that is...
I have also had the intention all year of getting through as much of my stash as I can, not cutting into a new piece of paper until I have checked my scrap bins for suitable pieces. This card is no exception and has been made entirely from bits and pieces.
I used a mixture of teal, royal blue and sky blue in several layers to get a lovely rich teal-ly colour on the paper. Once dry I cut out the Memory Box Elyse Christmas Tree from both the water coloured paper and the black cardstock layer.
I backed the silver matting piece with black fun foam and adhered that to the heavy parchment card base I had made.
I then adhered the black mat over the silver and carefully set the teal tree into the diecut space on the black, adding the several larger black pieces that had been cut out when I removed the die, using Ranger Multi Matte Medium.
I didn't want to replace all the small black leaves because I wanted the brightness of the silver to shine through.
I added some tiny white pearls and just a few tiny rhinestones to add some additional glitz.
The inside of the card has a light parchment liner with a silver embossed PTI Christmas greeting as I wanted to keep the front clean and simple...
I also have now the makings of several more Christmas cards, with the black trees, the watercolour negatives etc all hanging about on the workbench and so plan to get these all assembled. I will not keep them all as CAS as this one, I have some lovely cherry red sprinkles that will work well, but at least I will have some incentive to get a few more Christmas cards under way.
Bye now,
Di
