Unfortunately, Artery, who have stocked the smooth 12 x 12 sheets I prefer until very recently, in far greater quantity and at a much cheaper price than the dreaded Spotlight, have sadly decided to stock it no longer. So into Spotlight we were obliged to go. Parking was a good distance away so I had to hike quite a distance, just to add salt to the equation. The warren like shop was filled with people aimlessly wandering and looking for items which have all been recently moved to opposite ends of the store (just to keep us all guessing). The sombre-faced "non-assistants" were even grumpier than normal...declaring to one and all that they had no idea where things are located now...
It is always an experience to go to Spotlight! I went off them badly when they decided to no longer stock sock wool in their Hobart store...however, to their credit I did manage to get the paper, not in the colours I needed, but white did for both cards in the end.
As a child it was always just the "mountain" to us...now it is called kananyi in respect to the traditional and original owners of the land, the muwinina people.
The mountain towers over Hobart and provides, or a clear day, wonderful views over the South Eastern area of the State, as well as views to the South and North West along the Derwent Valley in certain areas.
Today there was a slight dusting of snow only so the road was quite safe. There were many cars visiting as well as people out bush walking, but no-one was staying long at the summit as it was shrouded in freezing cloud. Several younger folk were there in shorts and tee shirts...one young Asian chap even had thongs on his feet...near the summit there are some parking areas and the scanty snow was being tossed about energetically by hordes of smalls, shouting gleefully with glowing cheeks and wet gloves...we did not stop!
There is something very invigorating about snow. I have never met a dog or small who did not love it....maybe it is lucky that we don't get too much of it here. I would maybe think very differently if snow was with us in vast quantities for half the year...although I definitely prefer cold to heat, weather-wise.
Tomorrow I need to think about camels, very little ones, for Every Inchie Monday this week...I might see if I have any camel coloured felt...
Night night!
